The challenge

Lyssna rebranded from UsabilityHub and needed to migrate a years-old content library between CMSs — first off Medium, later from Webflow to Storyblok. Each migration is a chance to hemorrhage authority: broken redirects, canonical drift, lost internal links, buried meta.

On top of the migration risk, the existing blog — full of industry-grade research insights — was not ranking for the queries it deserved.

The approach

We ran a full content audit, mapped every old URL to its new destination with 301 redirects, and rewrote titles, meta descriptions, H-tags, and internal links during the move. Each migration was staged on a subdomain, validated against a redirect matrix, and cut over only after post-migration tests passed.

Parallel to the migration, we optimized on-page signals on the content that was already earning traffic so the lift hit before the CMS flip.

Lyssna domain overview — 21.7K monthly organic traffic, 19,064 organic keywords, 27.3K backlinks
Domain overview: 21.7K monthly organic traffic and 19,064 ranked keywords held steady through two CMS migrations.

The outcome

Organic traffic went from 8,000 to 19,000 monthly visits (+137%) with zero traffic loss across two platform migrations. Articles started ranking in first positions for UX research queries, and CTR improved on titles and metas we rewrote during the on-page pass.

What prospective clients ask before the kickoff call

Direct answers to the questions we hear most about this engagement.

A pre-migration redirect matrix (old URL → new URL with the correct 3xx), staging validation on a subdomain, canonical alignment, internal-link rewrites, and a post-migration diff that confirms the index switched cleanly. Skipping any one of those steps is what causes the 20–40% drops you see in migration horror stories.
